Nearly 18 years later, medical examiner identifies remains of 9/11 victim No. 1,644


A woman killed in the 9/11 World Trade Center attack became its 1,664th identified victim through DNA testing of remains recovered in 2002, the city Medical Examiner’s office announced Thursday. The victim’s name was withheld at the request of her family after the ID was made just eight weeks before the 18th anniversary of the terrorist attack in Lower Manhattan, according to a three-paragraph statement.
